Important Safety Announcement for Vehicle Lift Users. (29/12/2009)
by Richard Walker Source: Garage Equipment Association
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recently convened a meeting with the Garage Equipment Association (GEA) and the Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed) to discuss a recent rise in the number of vehicles falling from 2 post lifts. As a result of the meeting the GEA has issued a safety notice, which is intended to be read by lift operators and garage owners.
The notice provides good safety advice to lift operators and the GEA have asked us to distribute it to as many vehicle lift users as soon as possible. You can download a copy below and it will also be made available via the GEA web site and will be sent to the trade press for publication.
2 post lifts are generally very safe but as with any machinery, can cause problems if not maintained or used correctly. This document is designed to provide guidance to lift operators on the safe use of this equipment.
