Gott's Golden Garages

A few months ago we asked our clients, colleagues, and social media friends ‘has your garage “Gott” it all?’ Celebrating good practice in garage equipment, maintenance, service and training across the North of England we can now announce that the Gott’s Golden Garages Awards have come to an end.

Garage owners, mechanics, independent garages and dealerships have been sending in their nominations for our awards and after much deliberation we are thrilled to be able to announce the winners.

Best Garage: Northumbria Police – The Northumbria Police garage has the difficult job of maintaining a large fleet of cars to help service our community. In their own words: the team is ‘always striving to keep the North East Police Vehicles on the road in the hard times that we are up against’.

Best Mechanic: Steven Kolodziej from WA Whitfield Garage, Darlington – Steven always goes above and beyond in his day-to-day job – exactly the sort of mechanic our industry professionals should be striving to be.

Best Apprentice: Aaron Scott from Belford MOT Centre Ltd – Aaron sounds like a great guy to work with, who stands to go far! Described by his colleagues as ‘a very pleasant and thoughtful young man’. Aaron recently finished his NVQ level 3 and was the first to finish in the class for the second year running – needless to say, he is very good at his job.

Future Talent Award: Auto Skills Centre of Gateshead College – This forward-thinking and dynamic centre is developing some of the region’s top future talent in the automotive industry, teaching everything from servicing and repair for motor and electric vehicles, to body repair and refinishing. This one also gets a special mention for sending such a detailed and impeccable entry that made it a stand out winner for this award.

Best Kept Mechanic: Sean Taylor, from Stobbart and Collins in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne – This light-hearted award goes to Sean who was nominated by his colleagues for ‘always playing with his hair!’

Gott Technical Services managing director Ian Gott said: “I was really pleased to see nominations ranging from larger organisations, independent garages and even public sector workshops from across the region.

“Maintaining a great garage requires commitment and investment in quality equipment and staff skills, and each of the Golden Garage Award winners have demonstrated this in different ways.

“We work in a dynamic and vibrant automotive industry so anything that can promote and support this is important in order to continue to inspire future talent into our industry.

“Thank you to everyone who made a nomination, or got involved by spreading the word on social media. We have really enjoyed celebrating the best of the industry in our region with you all.”

All of the above winners will be treated to a VIP racetrack day at Karting North East.  Winners will be contacted individually in due course to arrange this prize.
