Councils have been accused of "bending the law" to boost the amount of money they raise from parking through overzealous traffic wardens and use of CCTV. They are even refusing to use their discretion to waive tickets when, for example, a car has stopped in a no waiting area for safety reasons.

In other news, RoSPA’s Head of Road Safety has warned that employers need to act responsibly in setting appropriate timetables for their employees and not forcing them to start work too early as 20% of accidents on motorways are linked to driver fatigue.
