Marilyn is the newest member of the Gott Technical Service team, having just joined on the 23rd June. Prior to joining us she worked as a nanny for a year in Venice where she looked after two lovely Italian children… they rarely left the beach! She now lives in Cramlington with her partner Mick and their pet poodle, Suzy. Marilyn has a lot of experience working in accounts and we are thrilled to have her as part of the team!
1.) How long have you worked at Gott Technical Services?
This will be my fifth week.
2 .) What is your position/job title there?
Purchase Ledger Assistant.
3.) What’s the favourite thing you like about your job?
I like all aspects of accounts work, but I especially like working with spread sheets and doing reconciliations.
4.) Is there any particular piece of equipment/area of service that you specialise in or feel you know most about?
I have worked in many areas of accounts work but feel that Purchase Ledger is the area I know best.
5.) What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to read and workout at the gym. I also enjoy going for walks with our poodle!
6.) Talk us through one of your normal days at work.
I start the day by downloading information on Pegasus for all the new jobs to be raised and enter them onto the system and responding to any recent emails. I spend the rest of the morning entering any Purchase Orders received from the Service Department onto Pegasus and forwarding them to our suppliers / sub-contractors. When the post comes in I check the invoices received and enter them onto the system as well as reconciling supplier statements to our Purchase Ledger. In between these tasks I look after the Petty Cash and answer any telephone queries.
Be organized / methodical and efficient when dealing with accounts paperwork as this makes finding information that may be required at a later date a lot easier. Always double check information you are producing to ensure that errors are avoided wherever possible.
