We have been involved with a couple of amazing events over the past two weekends. The first was the Morpeth Christmas lights switch on and launch of the Rotary Club of Morpeth's Tree of Light and Remembrance Garden in the town's Sanderson Arcade shopping centre.
The afternoon involved street theatre comprising the Spark! troupe of illuminated drummers, a large stage with singing performances, the appearance of Santa, street food, and a firework show following the light switch on. We were delighted to have sponsored the Rotary Club's Tree of Light again as it will raise money for worthy causes Northumbria Blood Bikes, Children's Cancer Fund, and Tiny Lives.
The second event we went to was held on Friday at the Grand Hotel, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, and this was the WIN North East Business Woman of the Year Awards. Now in it's 20th year, the awards were once again compered by celebrated radio presenter Anna Foster and for the first time, organised by The Event Hero events company, with musical performances by local singer-songwriter Jodie Louise Fitzgibbon and former Britain's Got Talent act Jamie Lee Harrison. It is such an inspirational event to be at as the winners and runners up have amazing stories to tell about how they managed to set up their businesses or have positively contributed to organisations, often in the face of adversity.
It was clear from the stories told on the night that as well as celebrating achievements up to this point, the individuals involved are going to go on to even greater success.
